Pinterest – I have started using it & I am loving it , Why you should also start using it , How to start using Pinterest as a beginner

You know one year ago , I knew only of facebook and little of Instagram . Then I started blogging and my interaction with twitter started . Twitter is a great social media platform .  The other platform Pinterest was something I had heard of , but never used really . Actually I did try it I think in my vacation in June 2017 but that time it appeared complex  to me . I could see hell lot of images images and images , although very provoking and tempting . But  how were  just these images useful to me ?   And I didn’t even know how people created those colorful catchy images . After trying my hands on it for few days , I uninstalled the Pinterest app from my phone .  The  year  2018  brought #superbloggerchallenge2018 , a ten week long blogging challenge .  It is still going on and I am participating. This challenge is helping me learn new techniques and  develop new skills . The hosts introduced all the participants to Pinterest and told how useful it is . I have started using it from the last few days , I think a week and you know what ? I  am actually finding it  easy and helpful . I feel like Why didn’t I use it earlier ? Anyways, Der aaye durust aaye . Now let me make the most of it .

If you are not using Pinterest as yet , start with it right now and you would love it . With little help from here and there , or from Pinterest itself , you would be able to use it much effectively and promote your online presence . I am in the beginner learning phase but I would like to share as much as  I have understood.

1. Create an account

Go to and create your account . Fill the basic details in the profile settings page and add a profile pic . See what my account looks like :

2. Create your Boards

Boards are like your diaries. You note down your health related articles in one diary , hobby related in other diary , blogging related in another diary and so on . If you are a blogger then you would  be , for sure,  making a diary for your own blog . So same concept is here  what Pinterest calls as boards .  So boards are the places where you save the posts or ideas categorically.  I have created  six boards as yet :

My Blog

Blogging Tips

Quick recipes

For my daughter

I save all my own blog posts in the board My Blog ,  I save some quick recipes in the board Quick Recipes( only quick ones, as I dont enjoy the kitchen for long ) . I save any women related articles in the board Women or save some posts in the board For my daughter , which I feel helpful for my daughter , like the recent post which I found on when to talk of puberty.

Have a view of my boards :

My pinterest

I have many many more boards in my mind , like Music , Travel ,etc . which I would steadily explore first and then create .

Ok ? So after you have created an account , make few boards of your choice .

3. Start Pinning

Pins are the visual book marks . You must have noticed it many times that when you are going through a website , there is a hovering red mark  on the images , that is the pin it button . This button allows you to save the article (and the image ) directly in your Pinterest board . Earlier I had the concept that pinterest consists of  only images , but I was wrong , actually every image can have  a url linked .

If you are a blogger and you also want that red pin it button on your blog post images, you should install the Pinterest plugin on your blog first . Activate it and all your images become pinnable. You go to any Image , click on that mark and save it in your board . Not just your image , the full article gets  saved in your board . Same way you pin  from other blogs. Save the articles of your choice in your boards and read them at any convenient time .

4. Make Vertical  Pinterest Graphics

Go slim , not fatty . Same way for images , go vertical ,less of horizontal.  Canva makes it so easy for  making  vertical Pins too . Use keywords , catchy titles,  along with name of your site .

5. Follow other people

Find people or bloggers in your areas of interest like Recipes , or Blogging or anything else and follow them . Based on your choice , you get easy access to the things you would like to read. The content is notified to you and you can pin it if you want . Follow others not just for the sake of following but to enhance yourself.  Make friends in this journey .

I am yet to learn a lot more about Pinterest , like group boards or rich pins or many other things , but I am happy that my Pinterest journey has started . Thanks to #superbloggerchallenge2018 hosts  Dr Amrita , Dr Bushra  and foodietweeter UK, without the support of whom I would have remained  deprived of  Pinterest.

So start with Pinterest and when you create your account , don’t forget to follow me . I am eagerly waiting to follow you back .
